New Delhi, September 2 (HS) : Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Tuesday inspected the flood relief camp set up near Geeta Colony flyover and assessed the water levels of the Yamuna River along with the waterlogging situation in affected areas.
During the inspection, Gupta met with families relocated from submerged areas along the Yamuna to safer locations and listened to their concerns. She assured them that the government stands firmly with them at every moment. Gupta informed that the government had already made comprehensive arrangements for accommodation, food, water, and medicines.
The Chief Minister emphasized that the Delhi government is committed to ensuring that no citizen faces hardship and that every family feels secure. She highlighted the continuous monitoring of water levels by the government and credited extensive de-silting work carried out in drains and the Yamuna over the past six months for facilitating the smooth flow of water. Gupta affirmed that the government will ensure the people of Delhi do not face any difficulties due to the situation.
Gupta reiterated that the government is taking all necessary measures proactively to keep the public safe and alleviate any concerns in times of adversity.
It is noteworthy that the Yamuna’s water level currently stands at 205.9 feet, exceeding the danger mark. This rise follows the release of water from the Hathnikund barrage into Delhi’s Yamuna River.
