Guwahati, 02 September (HS): Assam has made its mark at Semicon India 2025 by showcasing the state’s first indigenous semiconductor chips. Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma announced that two of the displayed chips carry Assam’s contribution to India’s chip-making journey.
The Tata OSAT Chip and the Neural Amplifier Frontend IC, designed by NIT Silchar, were among the highlights of the exhibition. Sarma, in a social media post, underlined that Assam is emerging as a significant player in the country’s semiconductor ecosystem, steadily supporting India’s technological growth.
Calling it a milestone for the state, Sarma said the showcase reflects Assam’s increasing shift toward high-tech industries and innovation, aligning with the national push for self-reliance in semiconductors.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, inaugurating the event, stressed that India is preparing for the next stage of the India Semiconductor Mission. He also confirmed that the government will soon shape a new Design-Linked Incentive (DLI) Scheme to encourage chip design.
