Delhi/Hyderabad, 2 September (H.S.): Union Home Minister Amit Shah will be visiting Hyderabad on Saturday to participate as the Chief Guest in the grand Ganesh Visarjan procession, “Shobha Yatra,” organised by the Bhagyanagar Ganesh Utsav Committee.
Accepting the invitation extended by the committee, Shah is scheduled to address the procession at two key points—Charminar and M J Market junction. His presence is expected to add significant political weight to the celebrations, with sources indicating he may also hold a closed-door meeting with senior BJP leaders to review the party’s affairs in Telangana.
Bhagyanagar Ganesh Utsav Committee general secretary Dr Ravinutala Shashidhar said this year’s festivities have drawn massive participation, with nearly 1.4 lakh Ganesh idols, each five feet or taller, installed across Hyderabad. In addition, one lakh saffron flags have been placed across the city, while several seers are touring different pandals in bastis during the festival.
Meanwhile, elaborate security measures are being put in place to ensure a smooth procession. Hyderabad police will deploy nearly 25,000 personnel across the city, given the massive turnout expected. Authorities have also covered mosques along the procession route with cloth, as a precautionary step to maintain communal harmony.
Shah’s visit is expected to blend both faith and politics, making the Ganesh Visarjan this year a high-profile event in Hyderabad’s cultural and political calendar.
