Guwahati (Assam), 02 September (HS): A medium-intensity earthquake struck Assam’s Sonitpur district on Tuesday evening. According to the Indian Seismology Center, the tremor was recorded at 5:33:29 PM with a magnitude of 3.5 on the Richter scale.

The quake’s epicenter was located 15 kilometers underground in Sonitpur, at 26.69°N latitude and 92.92°E longitude. Fortunately, no reports of damage or casualties have been received so far.

Panic gripped residents as tremors were felt, prompting many to rush out of their homes. Authorities are monitoring the situation closely.
