Uttarakhand Government Suspends Char Dham and Hemkund Sahib Pilgrimages Until September 5 Due to Heavy Rainfall

Dehradun, September 1(HS):

In view of persistent heavy rainfall in Uttarakhand, the state government has announced the suspension of the Char Dham Yatra along with the Hemkund Sahib pilgrimage until September 5, 2025. Garhwal Commissioner Vinay Shankar Pandey informed on Monday that numerous landslides and debris accumulation across several routes have caused severe disruptions to the travel pathways.

Authorities are prioritizing the reopening of these critical pilgrimage routes, but emphasizing that the safety and convenience of the pilgrims remain paramount. Commissioner Pandey appealed to all travelers to refrain from commencing their journey amid adverse weather conditions and to strictly adhere to the advice of local administration.

The pilgrimages will resume once the weather stabilizes and the roads are declared completely safe for travel. The state government and local authorities are actively involved in the monitoring, clearing, and ensuring security on all roadways to facilitate safe passage.

Commissioner Pandey urged the public to exercise patience and restraint during this period and encouraged pilgrims to stay informed with regular updates from administrative control rooms to plan their journeys accordingly.
