Hyderabad, 1 September (H.S.): Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Monday urged all 60 MPs from Telugu-speaking states to “vote with conscience” in the upcoming vice-presidential election, stressing that the political identity of Telugu people was at stake. He called on all parties to support INDIA bloc candidate and former Supreme Court judge, B Sudershan Reddy, describing him as a defender of democracy and the Constitution.
Addressing a joint press conference with leaders of the Congress, CPI(M), and CPI, the chief minister said Sudershan Reddy, who has devoted 53 years to public life and constitutional service, is the ideal candidate. “Let us set aside political differences. This election is not about parties, but about safeguarding democracy and reservations for the poor,” he said, accusing the NDA of trying to undermine both.
Revanth Reddy appealed to leaders across parties—including K Chandrasekhar Rao, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, Asaduddin Owaisi, N Chandrababu Naidu, and Pawan Kalyan—to extend support. Echoing the call, CPI national secretary K Narayana said Sudershan Reddy had played a vital role in strengthening democracy and deserved support from all democrats in the battle for India’s vice-presidency.
