Dhubri (Assam), 01 September (HS): Police in Golakganj have arrested a teacher, Hazrat Ali alias Hazrat Master, on charges of having close ties with the banned Bangladesh-based outfit Jamaat-e-Islami. Acting on a tip-off, a police team apprehended him from Kajigaon in Kokrajhar district on Monday.

Hazrat Ali, who had been absconding for several days, is currently being interrogated by police. Investigations into the matter are still underway.

The arrested teacher was serving at Laxmimari Majolia School near the India-Bangladesh border in Dhubri district. Notably, a few days ago, police had arrested another teacher of the same school, Shah Alam Sarkar, for alleged links with jihadi organisations.
