President Draupadi Murmu participated and spoke at the Diamond Jubilee celebrations of the All India Institute of Speech and Hearing (AISH) held in Mysore, Karnataka.
He said that it is necessary for specialists to identify and treat speech and hearing related problems at an early stage. He said that society should have an attitude of compassion and cooperation towards those suffering from such problems.
He said that the country needs to become self-sufficient in production to make devices like cochlear implants available at low prices, and called on organizations like AISH to play a key role in this direction.
The President said that public places, facilities and information sources should be disability-friendly. This not only provides convenience but also creates a feeling that society cares about them.
Praising the work of the AISH organization, he said that people with speech and hearing impairments should take the initiative to develop technologies that help them lead normal lives and contribute to society and the economy.
After the program, President Murmu interacted with the differently abled children undergoing treatment at the institution and the differently abled individuals who have been treated and have succeeded in various fields.
