Dhemaji (Assam), 01 September (HS): An indefinite strike has been launched at Dhemaji Polytechnic as fourth-grade employees demand their long-pending salaries.
Across 11 polytechnic institutes in the state, over 300 fourth-grade workers have been deprived of their monthly wages for the past 20 months. At Dhemaji Polytechnic alone, 18 employees have joined the protest from Monday.
The agitating workers, who are employed on a fixed salary of ₹10,000, said they are struggling to run their families due to the prolonged non-payment. Expressing frustration, they warned that if the government fails to resolve the matter soon, continuing sacrifices for the institution will no longer be possible.
