Kolkata, 1 September (H.S.).
The high-profile School Service Commission (SSC) recruitment scam in West Bengal has once again reached the Calcutta High Court. After the SSC on Saturday published a list of allegedly “tainted” teachers, more than 300 of those disqualified have now sought judicial intervention to be allowed to participate in the fresh recruitment process.
On Monday, around 350 candidates declared ineligible filed a petition before the Calcutta High Court. They argued that the SSC released the list without adhering to proper rules and procedures, and therefore excluding them from upcoming examinations was unjust.
The petitioners have demanded the opportunity to appear in the written examinations scheduled for September 7 and 14. They contended that issuing a “tainted list” alone was not sufficient and must be backed by solid reasons and transparency.
The High Court has admitted the petition, and the matter is expected to be heard on Tuesday by Justice Soumen Bhattacharya’s bench.
Legal experts observed that if the court gives weight to the petitioners’ arguments, it could significantly impact the SSC’s ongoing recruitment process.
