Hyderabad, 1 September (H.S.): Hyderabad MP and AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi on Monday announced that a new Passport Seva Kendra (PSK) will be inaugurated in the Old City on September 16. He thanked the Ministry of External Affairs for fulfilling this long-pending demand, saying the facility will make passport services more accessible to residents of South Hyderabad.
The new PSK will function from the MGBS Metro Station, making it the first such office in India to be located inside a metro station. The station, which already houses the VFS Global office for Saudi Arabia, serves both the red and green metro lines, ensuring convenient connectivity for thousands of commuters.
For years, residents of Old City had faced difficulties in traveling long distances to other parts of Hyderabad for passport services. Owaisi recalled that the late Sushma Swaraj, former External Affairs Minister, had earlier assured him of setting up a dedicated PSK for the densely populated area, and with this inauguration, that promise is finally being fulfilled.
