Faridabad, September 1(HS):
Travel between Faridabad, Delhi, and Noida just became costlier starting Monday with the introduction of new toll rates at the Badarpur border flyover on the National Highway. Except for cars and small vehicles, all other categories must now pay tolls based on the revised charges. While cars and smaller vehicles receive a waiver on single trips, an additional fee of Rs. 2 applies for multiple journeys.
Drivers holding the Rs. 3,000 pass remain unaffected by these changes. However, toll rates for light commercial vehicles and heavy vehicles have been increased both for single and multiple trips. Domestic cars and small vehicles, which previously paid Rs. 52 for multiple trips, now incur a charge of Rs. 53 per trip. Monthly pass holders in this category will also face an additional Rs. 16 fee.
Light commercial vehicles see an increase of Rs. 1 on single trips, Rs. 2 on multiple trips, and Rs. 23 on monthly passes, raising the monthly pass cost from Rs. 1,567 to Rs. 1,590. For these vehicles, single trip tolls increased from Rs. 52 to Rs. 53 and multiple trips from Rs. 78 to Rs. 80. Heavy vehicles are subjected to an extra Rs. 2 charge per single trip and Rs. 48 on monthly passes.
The new toll rates will primarily impact commuters heading to Delhi and Noida. According to National Highways Authority India (NHAI), around 5,000 vehicles, both small and large, traverse this toll daily, using the Badarpur flyover and bypass to access Delhi and Noida.
Faridabad, Haryana’s largest industrial hub, is renowned for manufacturing tractors, motorcycles, refrigerators, textiles, furniture, and spare parts, which results in high volumes of freight movement through this route daily.
Toll plaza manager R.K. Yadav confirmed that the new rates were implemented starting today and stated that while toll rates are revised annually, the update was skipped in 2024. Information regarding this year’s toll revision has been prominently displayed at the toll plaza for public awareness.
