New Delhi, September 1(HS): Tensions have heightened in the Delhi High Court over the issue of judicial appointments and transfers. The Delhi High Court Bar Association (DHCBA) has addressed a letter directly to Chief Justice of India B.R. Gavai and other senior members of the High Court Collegium, expressing strong concerns about the lack of consultation and transparency during recent judge appointments and transfers.
The DHCBA accused the Collegium of sidelining the Bar Association in crucial decisions affecting the judiciary's functioning and stakeholder trust. The letter emphasized that the hurried manner and insufficient advice sought during these processes are detrimental both to the High Court's institutional integrity and the interests of the legal community.
Lawyers practicing at the Delhi High Court have reportedly been left stunned by the recent appointments and transfers, feeling ignored and excluded from the consultative processes that traditionally safeguard fairness and collaboration between the judiciary and the Bar. The Bar Association urged immediate corrective measures to restore transparency and meaningful engagement in future judicial administrative decisions.
