Guwahati (Assam), 01 September (HS): The Assam unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Monday launched the ninth edition of its mouthpeace ‘Asomiya BJP Barta’ at the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Bhawan in Guwahati. The release was led by state BJP president Dilip Saikia in the presence of senior party leaders.
The magazine features noted writer Hemendra Nath Pathak’s essay “Ajoopa Rihha Gachh”, which discusses in detail the significance of the powerful Rihha (Kunkhar) tree. Also present at the event were state BJP secretary Mahesh Deuri, Assam Financial Corporation president Rupam Goswami, who is also the party’s media coordinator and other functionaries.
Speaking at the launch, Saikia said that every BJP state unit publishes its own newsletter to highlight the party’s initiatives and achievements. The BJP Barta, he added, plays a vital role in spreading the party’s ideals and informing people about positive developments in Assam.
The 2026 front page of the magazine carries a sharp critique of the American economic downturn, tributes to legendary singer-composer Dr. Bhupen Hazarika, and analyses of the Assam government’s eviction drive, alongside articles titled ‘BJP-supporting BTC residents’.
Saikia further accused Congress and left-leaning intellectuals of misleading the public with distorted interpretations of India’s history, civilization and culture. He emphasized that the BJP aims to foster intellectual awakening by presenting the nation’s ancient literature and heritage with accuracy and pride.
The state BJP chief also appealed to the people of Assam to contribute positive news stories for publication and announced that the newsletter is accessible on the Assam BJP’s official website.
