Kolkata, 1 September (H.S.).

In preparation for the upcoming West Bengal Assembly elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) central leadership will hold a two-day strategy session with the party’s top state leaders on Tuesday and Wednesday. The meeting will focus on organizational strengthening, booth-level preparedness, and shaping the direction of the election campaign.

Newly appointed state president and Rajya Sabha member Shamik Bhattacharya is already in Delhi, where he has held preliminary discussions with the central leadership. He is expected to return to Kolkata on Saturday evening along with central observer Sunil Bansal to participate in the key session.

According to party sources, strengthening the booth-level network will be a central agenda item. The deliberations will also cover campaign strategies, identifying core issues, and devising outreach methods to connect with voters more effectively.

Senior leaders including Union Minister and former state president Sukanta Majumdar, Leader of Opposition in the Assembly Suvendu Adhikari, and BJP IT cell chief and Bengal co-observer Amit Malviya will also take part in the discussions.

On Sunday, Suvendu Adhikari chaired a meeting of the state BJP election committee, later revealing that the central leadership had entrusted him with certain “unwritten responsibilities” related to the polls, which he pledged to execute with full seriousness.

A party functionary indicated that following Bihar, the Election Commission of India may soon initiate a Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process in West Bengal. The role of BJP leaders and workers in this exercise is also expected to feature in the upcoming deliberations.
