India Post to Release Special Picture Postcard Set Themed on 'Rain and Tagore'

Kolkata, 7 August (H.S.):

To commemorate the death anniversary of Rabindranath Tagore, India Post's West Bengal Circle is set to release a unique set of eight special picture postcards under the theme “Rain and Tagore.” The initiative is part of the ongoing “Forever in Letters” campaign, which aims to revive the tradition of letter writing among the youth and promote philately as a cultural pursuit.

The postcard set artistically captures the deep emotional and aesthetic connection that Tagore expressed toward the monsoon in his literary works. Through this initiative, the Department seeks to portray rain not merely as a natural phenomenon, but as an emotional, poetic, and philosophical experience, as reflected in Tagore’s poetry and prose.

Each postcard in the collection visually interprets Tagore’s monsoon imagery—offering a nostalgic, imaginative, and emotionally immersive experience to readers and collectors alike. This creative project is not only a tribute to the legendary poet’s literary legacy but also a step toward encouraging younger generations to reconnect with the human touch of handwritten communication.

India Post officials stated that this set will serve as a collectible memento for Tagore enthusiasts, writers, and philatelists, while also providing younger audiences with a glimpse into the beauty and depth of Tagore’s monsoon writings.

The “Forever in Letters” campaign has been organizing a series of letter-writing and postal-themed events across the country, aimed at promoting literature, culture, and meaningful communication. The “Rain and Tagore” postcard set marks a poetic and evocative addition to this cultural journey.
