Delhi, 6 August (H.S.): Elvish Yadav, a YouTuber, was arrested in March last year by Noida police regarding a snake venom case. On Wednesday, the Supreme Court halted trial court proceedings against him, responding to his appeal challenging the chargesheet and criminal process. A bench issued notice to the Uttar Pradesh government and complainant Gaurav Gupta. The appeal follows a dismissal from the Allahabad High Court. The chargesheet claims that snake venom was used as a recreational drug at rave parties, involving foreigners.
Yadav’s counsel noted that no snakes or narcotics were found, asserting a lack of connection between Yadav and co-accused. The informant's credentials were questioned, as he falsely identified himself as an Animal Welfare Officer, and Yadav, a notable influencer, received significant media coverage.
