New Delhi, August 5 (H.S.): The domestic stock market is facing downward pressure in early trading today, beginning with weakness. Selling intensified shortly after the market opened, leading to declines in both the Sensex and Nifty indices. After the first hour, the Sensex decreased by 0.45 percent and the Nifty by 0.42 percent.
Some major stocks, like IndusInd Bank, Grasim Industries, Axis Bank, Jio Financial, and SBI, experienced gains of 3.42 percent to 0.58 percent, while others, including Tata Consumer Products, Reliance Industries, Trent Limited, HDFC Bank, and Hindustan Unilever, declined by 0.89 percent to 0.68 percent. Of the 2,454 actively trading shares, 1,151 were in the green, and 1,303 were in the red. Among the 30 Sensex shares, 8 showed gains, while 22 faced losses, whereas, in the Nifty, 17 were in the green and 33 in the red.
The BSE Sensex opened down 72.29 points at 80,946.43, briefly rising to 81,010.49 due to slight buying before dropping further to 80,558.94 under selling pressure. By 10:15 AM, the Sensex was down 367.54 points at 80,651.18.
The Nifty started at 24,720.25, briefly rising to 24,733.10 before declining due to selling, dropping to 24,593.15. By 10:15 AM, the Nifty was down 104.70 points, trading at 24,618.05. On the previous trading day, the Sensex closed at 81,018.72, gaining 418.81 points, while the Nifty ended at 24,722.75, up 157.40 points.
