Delhi, 5 August (H.S.): Lok Sabha proceedings commenced following the NDA meeting, with PM Modi receiving accolades amid chants of 'Har Har Mahadev' on Tuesday. Several MPs from the INDIA bloc, including Congress leader Sonia Gandhi, protested in the Parliament complex against the Election Commission's voter roll revision in Bihar, calling for its rollback.
They displayed banners and posters condemning the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) near Parliament's Makar Dwar, asserting, Our Vote. Our Right. Our Fight, and labeling the SIR as Silent Invisible Rigging. This marked the tenth consecutive day of their protest, interrupted only briefly on Monday due to the passing of former Jharkhand chief minister Shibu Soren.
Opposition members from Congress, DMK, TMC, and Left parties voiced their concerns, accusing the Election Commission of collusion with the government to disenfranchise voters ahead of the Assembly elections. They demanded discussions on the matter in both Houses. Subsequently, the Lok Sabha was adjourned until 2 pm amid ongoing protests, while the Rajya Sabha was similarly adjourned until the same time.
