Delhi, 5 August (H.S.): To commemorate Professor M.S. Swaminathan's birth centenary, the M.S. Swaminathan Research Foundation (MSSRF) is hosting the M.S. Swaminathan Centenary International Conference from 7–9 August 2025 in New Delhi, in collaboration with various agricultural bodies. The theme, “Evergreen Revolution – The Pathway to Bio happiness,” reflects Prof. Swaminathan’s dedication to sustainable development and food security. Dr. M.L. Jat, Secretary (DARE) & Director General (ICAR), acknowledged Prof. Swaminathan's essential influence in transforming India into a food-surplus nation. The conference aims to extend his legacy, specifically enhancing women's participation in agriculture.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the event and unveil a commemorative coin and stamp honoring Swaminathan. Dr. Soumya Swaminathan emphasized the conference's global relevance in shaping sustainable agricultural futures. Discussions will center on key themes such as conservation of natural resources, climate-resilient agriculture, and inclusive livelihood solutions, particularly focusing on youth and women. The conference serves as a platform for scientists, policymakers, and stakeholders to engage in dialogues promoting the Evergreen Revolution principles. Ultimately, it celebrates Prof. Swaminathan’s leadership and reinforces the commitment to creating a sustainable, equitable, hunger-free world rooted in the concept of Bio happiness.
