Kolkata, 5 August (H.S.) Trinamool MP Kalyan Banerjee has apologized for supporting Mahua Moitra during a discussion in Parliament in the year 2023.

On Tuesday, the Trinamool MP wrote on his official X handle, In 2023, I stood by Ms. Moitra when she was under fire in Parliament — I did so out of conviction, not compulsion. Today, she repays that support by calling me a misogynist. I owe the nation an apology for having defended someone who clearly lacks basic gratitude.

He urged people to look at the words of Mahua Moitra and judge themselves. Banerjee has also shared the video of the proceedings of the Lok Sabha, in which he is seen defending Mahua Moitra.

Apart from this, Banerjee in another post also thanked the party chairperson for accepting his resignation from the post of Chief Whip of Trinamool.

Notably, Kalyan Banerjee resigned from his post on Monday. He resigned from his post after a dispute with party colleague Mahua Moitra. Mahua Moitra had recently abused Kalyan Banerjee in a podcast.
