Delhi, 5 August (H.S.): The Defence Acquisition Council, chaired by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Tuesday, approved proposals totaling approximately Rs 67,000 crore. For the Indian Army, Acceptance of Necessity (AoN) was granted for the procurement of Thermal Imager-based Driver Night Sight for BMPs, enhancing night driving and operational mobility.

The Indian Navy received AoN for Compact Autonomous Surface Craft, BrahMos Fire Control System & Launchers, and the Upgradation of the BARAK-1 Missile System, improving anti-submarine warfare capabilities. The Indian Air Force's AoN included Mountain Radars and SAKSHAM/SPYDER Weapon System Upgradation, enhancing air surveillance and air defense. Additionally, AoN was approved for Medium Altitude Long Endurance (MALE) Remotely Piloted Aircraft (RPAs) to bolster surveillance and combat capabilities for all three Services. The DAC also sanctioned sustenance for the C-17 and C-130J fleets and an annual maintenance contract for the S-400 Long Range Air Defence Missile System.
