New Delhi, August 4 (H.S.): The domestic stock market showed gains amid fluctuations during early trading today. The session started strong, seeing a tug-of-war between buyers and sellers within the first half-hour.

By the end of the first hour, the Sensex was up 0.16 percent and the Nifty up 0.26 percent. Key stocks like Hero MotoCorp, Tata Steel, Bharat Electronics, Grasim Industries, and IndusInd Bank gained between 2.46 percent and 1.59 percent, while Power Grid Corporation, Tech Mahindra, Sun Pharmaceuticals, Infosys, and NTPC experienced declines from 1.46 percent to 0.76 percent. Out of 2,529 actively traded shares, 1,391 were in the green and 1,138 in the red.

In the Sensex, 19 stocks showed buying support, while 11 stocks were under selling pressure. For the Nifty, 32 stocks were positive, and 18 negative. The BSE Sensex opened at 80,765.83 points, gaining 165.92 points, and peaked 80,902.93 points before dipping to 80,500.51 points and rebounding back.

By 10:15 AM, the Sensex stood at 80,729.89 points, up by 129.98 points. The Nifty opened at 24,596.05 points with a jump of 30.70 points, reached a high of 24,669.95 points, and briefly dropped to 24,554 points. It was at 24,629 points at 10:15 AM with a gain of 63.70 points. Last Friday, the Sensex closed at 80,599.91 points, down 0.72 percent, and the Nifty at 24,565.35 points, down 0.82 percent.
