Meerut, 03 Aug
(HS): A 25-year-old pregnant
lady was reportedly stabbed to death by her husband in a hamlet here,
authorities said on Sunday. Sapna, a Jatav Gate resident, married Ravishankar
(28), in January of this year. Sapna, on the other hand, had been living with
her sister for the previous five months owing to marital problems, according to
the police. According to Ganganagar Station House Officer (SHO) Anup Singh,
Ravishankar paid a visit to his wife at her sister's house on Saturday morning
and dragged her inside under the guise of a chat. He then shut the door and
assaulted her with a knife, causing many stab wounds before murdering her on
the spot, according to authorities. Following the incident, the accused
contacted the police and confessed to the crime.
Circle Officer
(CO) Shiv Pratap Singh stated that the victim's family claimed Sapna was seven
months pregnant; however confirmation of the pregnancy will be pending the
post-mortem result. According to Additional Superintendent of Police (Rural),
Rakesh Kumar Mishra, the accused was furious because Sapna continued to visit
her sister's house and stayed there with her brother-in-law, which enraged
Ravishankar. Police said a thorough investigation is now underway.
