Hooghly, 3 August (H.S.): The police have arrested three persons in connection with the theft case that took place on Saturday in Keota Hemant Basu Colony, Sahaganj, under Chuchura police station area in Hooghly district. The accused arrested by the police have been identified as Arif Sheikh (28), Shukchand Sheikh (20) and Tahbul Islam (37). All three accused are residents of Murshidabad district. After interrogating the arrested accused, the police have also recovered three stolen mobile phones and parts of three other mobile phones.
Notably, Mrityunjay Biswas, a resident of the area, had lodged a written complaint at Chuchura police station, in which he told that some people forcibly entered his house at midnight and fled with cash and mobile phones. Mobiles have also been stolen from other houses in the neighborhood.
On the basis of the complaint, a case was registered at Chuchura police station and the police immediately started investigation. During the investigation, the police caught the three accused.
DCP (Chandannagar) of Chandannagar Police Commissionerate issued a statement on Sunday confirming these arrests.
