Jammu, 3 August (H.S.): Jammu & Kashmir Private Schools Coordination Committee (JKPSCC), held a meeting, here today, and voiced concerns over increasingly complex regulatory challenges being faced by private schools in the region.
The members pointed out the inappropriate application of SRO 123 to new schools, despite some provisions being clearly limited. They criticized the irrational imposition of NOCs, particularly the complex and often harassing procedure of obtaining Revenue and Traffic NOCs.
The members also highlighted the operational difficulties schools are facing in their day-to-day survival and called for urgent reforms in the support system for private institutions.
The Working President of JKPSCC, Dr Hari Dutt Shishu urged the Government to look into the grievances of the private schools and take immediate steps for redressal of the same.
Rameshwar Singh Manhas, President of the Association, strongly advocated for a single-window clearance system for private schools and highlighted the disparity in norms applied to private versus Government institutions.
Sanjeet Sharma, General Secretary of the Association, delivered an insightful presentation on the relevance of SRO 259 in the context of newly established schools and emphasized the forgotten concept of Permanent Recognition.
Balkaran Singh (Coordinator ) shared concerns over the procedural hurdles associated with the approval of fees by the Fee Fixation and Regulation Committee (FFRC), which has become unnecessarily complicated and burdensome for school managements.
