Shantiniketan, 3 August (H.S.): As per the earlier announcement of Visva-Bharati University, the Shantiniketan Ashram campus was opened to tourists through 'Heritage Walks' from Sunday. This special initiative started with six tourists on Sunday morning. The university administration hopes that the number of tourists will increase over time. Tourists and locals are happy as the ashram campus has been opend to the general public after about five years.

Notably, the campus of Visva-Bharati was closed to general visitors during the COVID-19 pandemic. But the current Vice-Chancellor of the university had already made it clear that from now on Rabindranath Tagore's ideas, education system and cultural heritage will be presented to the tourists in a more accurate manner.

The Executive Public Relations Officer of the university had informed that Heritage Walks will be started in Shantiniketan from Sunday, August 3. During this walk, tourists will be able to visit the main ashram campus of Visva-Bharati with the help of trained guides.

At present, this walks will be organised every Sunday for one and a half to two hours, but in future there is a plan to organise it five to six days a week.
