Dehradun, August 3 (H.S.): Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, on Sunday, handed over appointment letters to a total of 187 candidates at the Mukhya Sevak Sadan at the Chief Minister’s residence. These included 144 candidates selected for various posts in the Irrigation Department and 43 eligible candidates under the deceased dependent quota in the Transport Department.

On the occasion, CM Dhami congratulated the newly appointed candidates and urged them to serve with honesty, dedication, transparency, and a strong sense of duty. He said that the selected candidates will be the ground-level pillars of irrigation projects, who will use their technical expertise to ensure water reaches farmers’ fields. He also highlighted the government's initiative in offering long-pending appointments to dependents of deceased employees. While 150 dependents were appointed last year, the remaining 43 were given appointment letters today. He noted that, through government efforts, the corporation earned a record profit of over ₹56 crore in 2024.

The Chief Minister emphasized that the state government has adopted a policy of zero tolerance towards corruption. Unlike the past, when recruitment processes were marred by favoritism, scams, and corruption, the current government has introduced the strictest anti-cheating law in the country. Today, recruitments in the state are carried out with complete transparency and on the basis of merit, ensuring that deserving candidates benefit fully from their talent and hard work. He proudly stated that more than 23,000 young people in the state have secured government jobs in the past three and a half years.

The CM also reiterated the importance of self-reliance, stating that the commitment towards a self-reliant India must be further strengthened. He supported Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call to use indigenous products and urged residents of Uttarakhand to promote and use local and Swadeshi goods. He affirmed that Devbhoomi Uttarakhand is dedicated to realizing the vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat.

Highlighting the role of irrigation department appointees, the CM said they will not only design plans and layouts for irrigation projects but also help frame future development strategies. He mentioned that many selected candidates were beneficiaries of horizontal reservation for statehood movement participants, which is a matter of pride for everyone.

Cabinet Minister Satpal Maharaj said that under the CM's leadership, over 23,000 youth have received government job appointments. He noted a significant decline in unemployment both in the state and across the country. The newly appointed candidates in the Irrigation Department will further strengthen the department and accelerate development.

Cabinet Minister Ganesh Joshi, MLAs Khajan Das and Savita Kapoor, Secretary Yugal Kishore Pant, Additional Secretary Reena Joshi, and other dignitaries were also present at the event.
