New Delhi, August 21 (H.S.) : Investors across the globe are navigating mixed market signals, with U.S. indices closing lower in the previous session, European markets ending flat to mixed, and Asian equities showing a patchy trend this morning.

On Wall Street, sentiment remained under pressure as heavyweight tech stocks dragged benchmarks lower. The S&P 500 slipped 0.24% to close at 6,395.78, while the Nasdaq fell 142.10 points, or 0.67%, to settle at 21,172.86. In contrast, Dow Jones Futures are trading slightly positive, up 0.02% at 44,945.90, signaling a cautious mood.

In Europe, the performance was similarly uneven. The FTSE 100 gained 98.92 points (1.07%) to close at 9,288.14, while the CAC 40 dipped 0.08% to 7,973.03. Germany’s DAX tumbled 146.10 points (0.60%) to 24,276.97, reflecting investor caution amid global volatility.

Across Asia, trading remains mixed, with 5 out of 9 indices moving higher while 4 are in the red. The Nikkei 225 dropped 247.55 points (0.58%) to 42,641, while Jakarta Composite slipped 0.46% to 7,906.98. The Hang Seng lost 0.36% to trade at 25,075, and the SET Composite eased 0.20% to 1,245.67.

On the upside, GIFT Nifty edged up 0.13% to 25,113.50, while Singapore’s Straits Times gained 0.11% at 4,224.13. The standout performer was the Taiwan Weighted Index, which surged 1.13% (267.95 points) to 23,893.39. Meanwhile, KOSPI rose 0.93% to 3,159.06 and the Shanghai Composite advanced 0.35% to 3,779.52.

Analysts note that the divergence across regions highlights a lack of clear global direction, with traders keeping a close watch on U.S. tech earnings, macro data, and central bank signals.
