Guwahati, 02 August (HS): In a bid to enhance the city’s aesthetics ahead of Independence Day, the Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) launched a special anti-encroachment drive across several parts of the city on Saturday night.

As part of the drive, actions were taken against certain commercial establishments in areas like Jayanagar and Beltola. GMC clarified that the initiative will continue in the coming days to ensure a cleaner and better-organized city by August 15.

Officials stated that special focus is being laid on clearing public spaces, roads, and market areas to befacilitate easy movement for citizens.
