Kolkata, 2 August (H.S.) A five-month-old girl died after drowning in water accumulated due to rain in Debinagar area of Birati under ward number 13 of North Dumdum Municipality. According to local sources, due to the rains continuing for the last few days, there is severe waterlogging in the area. Water has entered many houses.

Water had also entered the house where the girl lived. The girl, who was lying on the bed, fell down in the water and drowned. When the girl was taken to the hospital, the doctor declared her dead. The body of the girl was taken to NRS Hospital for post-mortem.

Local people have blamed poor drainage and lack of maintenance of the canal for the incident. Local residents are shocked after the incident.
