Delhi, 2 August (H.S.): On the release of the 20th instalment of the PM-KISAN Yojana, Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan addressed a large gathering in Patna, Bihar, attended by Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sinha and other officials. Chouhan praised the hard work of farmers, particularly women, emphasizing that agriculture is the backbone of the Indian economy.

Highlighting Bihar's cultural and agricultural legacy, he acknowledged the global recognition of its hardworking populace and the historical significance of the Champaran Satyagraha in India's freedom movement.Chouhan reiterated Prime Minister Modi's commitment to making farming profitable, noting that over ₹3.77 lakh crore has been transferred to farmers under the PM-Kisan scheme, with an additional ₹20,000 crore deposited during the event, aiding countless farming families.

He underscored efforts like the Pradhan Mantri Dhan Dhanya Yojana to enhance agricultural productivity, particularly in low-output regions, and recognized Bihar's notable Makhana production.Assuring farmers of timely access to fertilizers and pesticides, he mentioned compensation strategies for crop failures and the procurement of crops at Minimum Support Price (MSP) with a 50% profit margin on production costs, reflecting a farmer-centric government approach.

Chouhan emphasized that the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system ensures farmers receive the entire assistance amount without leakage, contrasting it with previous practices. The program concluded with a commitment to empower farmers and bolster India's agriculture sector under Modi's leadership.
