Delhi, 4 August (H.S.): The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) published the Independent Drive Test (IDT) results for the Jammu & Kashmir Licensed Service Area (LSA) for June 2025, assessing mobile network performance across Urban Zones, Hotspots, Transport Hubs, and high-speed Corridors. Testing occurred from June 10-12, covering 41.3 km in City Tests, 302 km in Highway Tests, 5 Hotspot locations, and 2 km in Walk Tests, covering 2G, 3G, 4G, and 5G technologies to represent varied user experiences. Results were communicated to relevant Telecom Service Providers (TSPs).
Key parameters evaluated included Voice Services such as Call Setup Success Rate (CSSR), Drop Call Rate (DCR), Call Setup Time, Call Silence Rate, Speech Quality (Mean Opinion Score - MOS), and Coverage. Data Services assessed metrics like Download/Upload Throughput, Latency, Jitter, Packet Drop Rate, and Video Streaming Delay.
For Voice Services, the CSSR stood at 57.11% for Airtel, 47.03% for BSNL, and 49.78% for RJIL in Auto-selection mode. The Call Setup Times were 1.90 seconds (Airtel), 4.36 seconds (BSNL), and 1.56 seconds (RJIL). Drop Call Rates recorded were 9.70% (Airtel), 4.67% (BSNL), and 7.17% (RJIL). Silence Call Rates in packet-switched networks were 6.82% (Airtel), 4.97% (BSNL), and 14.18% (RJIL). MOS ratings averaged 3.81 (Airtel), 2.53 (BSNL), and 3.56 (RJIL). Notably, VIL's network was not operational during testing.
In Data Services, average download speeds were reported as 95.39 Mbps (Airtel), 2.62 Mbps (BSNL), and 144.09 Mbps (RJIL), while upload speeds were 16.59 Mbps (Airtel), 4.06 Mbps (BSNL), and 13.99 Mbps (RJIL). Latency at the 50th percentile was 23.30 ms (Airtel), 37.65 ms (BSNL), and 15.40 ms (RJIL). Hotspot data performance revealed download/upload speeds for Airtel (4G), BSNL (4G), and RJIL (4G/5G) with significant variances. Testing locations included populous areas in Leh and high-speed corridors like Nubra Valley, conducted under TRAI’s protocols for accurate results, with detailed reports available on the TRAI website.
