New Delhi, August 2 (HS): The BJP has rejected Rahul Gandhi's assertion that Arun Jaitley threatened him over the farm laws, labeling his statement factually incorrect and misleading. Amit Malviya, head of the BJP's IT cell, emphasized that Jaitley, who passed away on August 24, 2019, could not have contacted Gandhi regarding the farm bills, which were introduced to the Union Cabinet on June 3, 2020, and enacted in September 2020.

Fake News Alert. Rahul Gandhi claims that Shri Arun Jaitley approached him to water down his opposition to 2020 Farm Laws. Let's set the record straight: Arun Jaitley ji passed away on 24 August 2019. The draft Farm Bills were brought to the Union Cabinet on 3 June 2020. The laws were enacted in September 2020, he wrote on X.

Rohan Jaitley, Arun Jaitley’s son, supported this perspective, reminding Gandhi that his father was a democrat who valued open dialogue and consensus. He urged caution in discussing the deceased, recalling how Gandhi previously politicized Manohar Parrikar’s final days.

Gandhi's claims were made during a Congress national legal conference, where he stated that Jaitley threatened him, warning of repercussions if he opposed the government regarding the farm laws.
