Tamulpur (Assam), 17 August (HS): A powerful storm struck Tamulpur early this morning, causing extensive damage in several areas. Large trees were uprooted, blocking roads and severely disrupting traffic movement.

Electric poles were also destroyed in the storm, plunging many localities into darkness. The Tamulpur-Odalguri and Rongia-Bhutan roads remain blocked due to fallen trees, creating major transportation hurdles.

Meanwhile, local residents have joined hands with the forest department to clear the roads and restore normalcy. Authorities are working to resume power and road connectivity at the earliest.
