Bhubaneswar, 17 August (H.S.): Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Saturday expressed deep grief over the demise of noted mathematician and former Vice-Chancellor of Utkal University, Prof. Dr. Gokulananda Das.
In a condolence message shared on social media, Pradhan described Prof. Das as a “scholar par excellence” who was deeply passionate about teaching and research. Remembering him as a devoted follower of Lord Jagannath, the Minister said that apart from his academic pursuits, Prof. Das was also fond of writing on spirituality and popular science.
Highlighting his qualities as a teacher, Pradhan said Prof. Das was soft-spoken, articulate, and inspired students beyond the confines of classrooms. “His demise is a huge loss to the world of academics,” the Minister remarked.
Pradhan also conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and students of Prof. Das, praying to Lord Jagannath for his eternal peace.
