17 Aug (HS): A criminal carrying a reward of Rs. 25,000 was injured in a
shootout that took place during wee hours near Jogipur Tiraha under Mauaima
police station area in Prayagraj district of Uttar Pradesh. The police team
admitted him to the hospital for immediate treatment. The police team recovered
from his possession a looted yellow metal chain, a yellow metal ring, a pair of
yellow metal earrings, 16 pairs of white metal anklets, and Rs. 5560, a pistol,
cartridges, empty cartridges and the motorcycle used in the incident.

Commissioner of Police, Ganganagar Kuldeep Singh Gunawat informed on Sunday, “Criminal
injured in the encounter has been identified as Shivam Pasi, son of Ramkumar,
resident of Faridpur village of Nawabganj police station area of Prayagraj.
Cases of robbery, snatching and theft are registered against him in Mauaima
police station. A reward of twenty-five thousand was announced for his arrest.”

Ganganagar informed that under the campaign being run against criminals, police
teams were checking vehicles in search of suspected criminals on late Saturday
night under the leadership of Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police
Ganganagar Pushkar Verma, on the instructions of ACP Phulpur and ACP Soraon.
The police team of Mauaima police station was checking suspicious persons and
vehicles near Jogipur Tiraha under Mauaima area, during this time a motorcycle
came from Siswa towards Jogipur mode on which two suspects were riding. When
the police team signaled them to stop, the motorcycle riders turned back
towards Siswa and started running and fired at the police. The police team
chased them. They were surrounded on the road towards Siswa, on which they
again fired at the police team, in response the police team fired at them in
self-defense. In which one suspect, identified as Shivam Pasi, on whom a reward
of Rs. 25,000 was announced, got injured after being shot in the leg, the other
suspect fled taking advantage of the darkness, who is being searched.
