Guwahati (Assam), 16 August (HS): A condolence meeting was held on Saturday at Assam Police Headquarters to observe the ‘Day of Mourning’ in memory of the innocent children and others who lost their lives in the Dhemaji bomb blast during Independence Day celebrations on August 15, 2004.
The Director General of Assam Police, Harmit Singh, Inspector General of Police Akhilesh Singh, Vivekaraj Singh and Prashant Kumar Bhuiyan, along with senior police officials and staff, attended the programme.
On the occasion, they took an oath to promote peace in society, strengthen social harmony among all sections of citizens and stand united against forces that threaten human life and values. The oath was administered by Assistant Inspector General of Police (Administration) Pranab Jyoti Goswami. --------------
