Noida,
16 Aug (HS): A cab driver has been detained after holding a family hostage
throughout their journey while Noida Police pursued the fast car for
purposefully crossing barriers, police said on Saturday. PCR sirens blasting in
the background, a four-year-old terrified kid weeping, and her parents
imploring with the driver to stop the car -- exhibited a video of the tense
moment captured by the family. According to Noida Phase 3 Police, the culprit
was detained and two Aadhaar cards were discovered in his possession, one in
the name of 'Nasim' and the other in the identity of 'Sonu'. Sanjay
Mohan hired a cab from his Greater Noida residence to Delhi's Connaught Place
at 1.30 p.m. on Thursday. Mohan, his wife, and their four-year-old daughter sat
in the taxi and began their journey.
However,
when police signaled the motorist to halt at Parthala Bridge in Noida, he
rushed away, crossing the barriers, according to police. The couple, taken
aback by the driver's unexpected move, requested that he stop the car and drop
them off. However, he disregarded and
continued driving recklessly for several kilometers to avoid the pursuing PCR
vehicle, according to reports. The couple persisted in their pleas, and when
the driver was able to evade the cops, he came to a halt near TP Nagar for a
brief while. They said that he vanished
as soon as the family got down. The family documented the entire thing. It appeared on social media on Friday,
enabling authorities to identify and apprehend the suspect on Saturday,
according to the police.
