Mumbai, 15 Aug (HS): Rehabilitation work at a faster
pace can make Mumbai free from slums. The rehabilitation projects should not run
for decades. The projects should be planned and implemented within one and a half
years, said Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. The target can be
achieved by using modern technology, he added.
Fadnavis was speaking during a programme ‘Change of
Guards’ organised by Credai-MCHI on Friday in Mumbai. The first phase of the BDD
Chawl redevelopment has been completed. Those living in 100 sq ft for almost 161
years have been given 500 sq ft houses. This is the biggest urban rehabilitation
project in Asia, he said. With modern technology, an 80-floor building can
be constructed within 120 days.
Sukhraj Nahar took over as the new President of
Credai-MCHI. Former President Dominic Romell, Secretary Rishi Mehta, former
Secretary Dhawal Ajmera, CEO Kewal Valambhiya, and many prominent people from
real estate business were present.
