New Delhi, 15 August (H.S.) : This morning, the heart of the nation beats with renewed pride and unity as India marks her 79th Independence Day.Prime Minister Narendra Modi hoisted the national flag at the historic Red Fort and began addressing the nation as India celebrates its 79th Independence Day.
A Morning of Reverence and Resolve
Prior to heading to the Red Fort, Prime Minister Modi paid a solemn tribute to Mahatma Gandhi at Rajghat. Around 7:30am, the Red Fort—adorned in the tricolour—welcomed dignitaries, security officials, and citizens for the much-anticipated ceremony. National Security Advisor Ajit Doval and other senior leaders were present to witness this momentous occasion.
PM Modi extended his greetings to the nation via X, affirming, “May this day inspire all of us to keep working even harder to realise the dreams of our freedom fighters and build a Viksit Bharat.”
A Nation United in ResolveThe day’s grandeur extends far beyond Delhi. From Jodhpur, where hundreds of drones recreated the valiant Operation Sindoor in the night sky, to homes and offices where the tricolour flutters proudly, India stands as a beacon of resilience, progress, and hope. As PM Modi addressing the nation, citizens are urged to tune in via Doordarshan, PIB’s YouTube channel, or social media platforms for this historic address—a call to rededicate ourselves to the nation’s dreams, its unity, and its march towards a brighter, stronger future.
