Bangalore, 15 August (H.S.): A mysterious explosion in Bengaluru has left people in a shock. An 8-year-old boy named Mubarak died in the incident that took place at a house in Sriram Colony, Chinnayyanapalya, in the city.

More than 10 people were injured and the injured have been admitted to Sanjay Gandhi and Victoria Hospitals. Sarasamma, a 60-year-old woman who was seriously injured in the incident, is said to be in a critical condition.

The intensity of the blast damaged about 13 houses. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah visited the spot and inspected the area.

He announced that the state government will bear the cost of repairing the damaged houses, a compensation of Rs 5 lakh for the family of the deceased boy, the entire medical expenses of the injured and a compensation of Rs 1 lakh for the injured.

Briefing the media about the incident, Seemanth Kumar Singh, Bengaluru City Police Commissioner said that the explosion took place in the Adugodi police station limits and 13 houses were damaged due to its intensity.

“About five hospitals are treating the injured. The exact nature of the explosion cannot be immediately ascertained and details about the explosion will be given only after a thorough investigation,” he said.
