Guwahati, 15 August (HS): The Guwahati Traffic Police will switch back to their traditional white-coloured uniform from August 16, in an effort to enhance operational efficiency, maintain uniformity across Assam and restore a distinct identity for the city’s traffic personnel.

The decision was taken after a comprehensive review of functional needs, field conditions and feedback from police officials, road safety experts and the public. The white uniform, long associated with traffic management in the city, is valued for its visibility, approachability and professional appearance.

The Traffic Police have urged citizens to co-operate as they continue initiatives to improve road safety, reduce congestion, and ensure smooth traffic flow.

Notably, Guwahati Traffic Police wore white uniforms until 2017, when they were replaced by light blue and navy attire.
