Lucknow, 14 Aug

(HS): The Uttar Pradesh Assembly's 24-hour marathon discussion on the Vision

2047 paper continued far into Thursday, with members from both the treasury and

opposition benches debating the future development roadmap. Suresh Kumar

Khanna, the state Finance and Parliamentary Affairs Minister, encouraged the

Chair to limit members' speaking time to four minutes apiece, noting the vast

number of lawmakers who are still waiting to contribute to the special

discussion. The conversation, headlined Viksit Bharat-Viksit Uttar

Pradesh, Aatmanirbhar Bharat-Aatmanirbhar Uttar Pradesh, began on

Wednesday at 11 a.m. and lasted all night.

The session is part of the Assembly's continuing Monsoon sittings. The

issue is sparked by Prime Minister Narendra Modi's pledge to make India a developed

nation by 2047. Modi made the

announcement during his 77th Independence Day address.

During the meeting

on Wednesday night, Higher Education Minister Yogendra Upadhyay chastised the

opposition for doubting the need of debating plans for 2047. Merely leaders who

consider the welfare of future generations can set the groundwork for the

future, not those who merely care about winning the next election, he said,

adding that Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath was a country leader who looked

decades ahead.

Transport Minister Dayashankar Singh stated that the chance to explore Uttar

Pradesh's role in a developed India in 2047 should be grasped in a spirit that

transcends party politics.

MSME Minister Rakesh Sachan stated that the state has 96 lakh micro, small, and

medium-sized firms, making it the second-largest employer after agriculture and

supporting over two crore households.

Pallavi Patel, a

Samajwadi Party MLA, argued from the opposition benches that the goal should

focus on holistic and sustainable development rather than just top rankings or

headline economic measures.

She criticized the BJP of creating divided politics that stifles progress and

stated that scientific, reasonable thinking was required for genuine growth. Patel

also made a scathing statement equating India's underachievement with Japan's

growth based on Buddhist ideas, saying that although Buddha is on Indian soil,

we are discussing cows and cow urine in the name of progress. Speakers from

both sides, including BJP MLA Pradeep Shukla and SP members Prabhu Nath Yadav

and Ziauddin Rizvi, participated in the lengthy sitting.

Leader of Opposition Mata Prasad Pandey raised questions about

the merger of schools of the Basic Education Department in Uttar Pradesh. He

said that the condition of the schools should be improved and not merged. He

raised questions on the electricity system and also suggested increasing the

number of tourists by organizing things related to Lord Buddha.

The Leader of Opposition said that the ruling party says that

the criminals are on one side. Criminals are from all classes and castes. Why

are the houses of the poor demolished during the crackdown? He also accused the

government of taking action against innocent people. He made his statements in

a witty manner. Sometimes he attacked the government and sometimes gave

suggestions.
