East Medinipur, 14 August (H.S.) A tourist from Odisha died after drowning in water while taking a sea bath at Digha in East Medinipur district, while another has been admitted to the hospital.
As per information, two people of a nine-member tourist group from Odisha were swept away by the waves of the sea at Digha on Thursday morning. Local police and rescue workers pulled both of them out, but one could not be saved. The deceased has been identified as Narayan Shaw (42), who was originally a resident of Odisha and lived in Liluah, Howrah.
The second tourist was saved from drowning and has been admitted to the hospital, where his treatment is going on. As soon as the news of the accident spread, there was chaos on the beach. The police have sent the body for post-mortem and the relatives of the deceased have been informed.
