-Extra services between Delhi, Mathura, Jhansi, Varanasi, Gwalior, Jabalpur and other key destinations from August 14–17
New Delhi, August 14 (HS): In anticipation of the massive passenger rush during Krishna Janmashtami, the Indian Railways has announced a series of special train services to ensure safe, comfortable, and convenient travel for devotees and holiday travellers. These services will operate on various high‑demand routes between August 14 and 17, featuring both reserved and unreserved coaches to maximise capacity.
Delhi–Ringas–Delhi
Northern Railway’s Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO) Himanshu Shekhar Upadhyay said that special trains between Delhi Junction and Ringas Junction will run for three days.
- Train No. 04415 will depart Delhi Junction at 8:40 PM on August 14, 15 and 16, arriving at Ringas Junction at 5:05 AM the following day.
- Train No. 04416 will return from Ringas on August 15, 16 and 17.
- The rake will comprise Sleeper and General coaches.
Hazrat Nizamuddin–Jhansi (V. Lakshmibai Junction)
- Train No. 04418 will depart Hazrat Nizamuddin at 5:35 PM on August 14, 15 and 16, reaching Jhansi at 3:45 AM next morning.
- Train No. 04417 will operate in the reverse direction on August 15, 16 and 17.
- These trains, too, will have Sleeper and General coaches.
Hazrat Nizamuddin–Mathura Shuttles
- Train No. 04422 from Hazrat Nizamuddin and Train No. 04421 from Mathura will leave at 10:30 AM and 4:30 PM respectively on August 15 and 16.
- Train No. 04424/04423 will also run as special MEMU services on the same sector, offering faster, same‑day returns to cater to festival travel.
Delhi–Varanasi Special
- Train No. 04420 will leave Delhi Junction for Varanasi on August 14, while Train No. 04419 will return from Varanasi on August 15. The service will feature AC, Sleeper, and General coaches.
Jabalpur–Hazrat Nizamuddin Special
- Train No. 01707 will run from Jabalpur to Hazrat Nizamuddin on August 14 and 17.
- Train No. 01708 will return from Hazrat Nizamuddin on August 15 and 18.
Agra Cantt.–New Delhi Intercity Extended to Gwalior
In addition, the New Delhi–Agra Cantt. Intercity Express (Train No. 14212/14211) will be temporarily extended to Gwalior from August 14 to 16 (down) and August 15 to 17 (up) to accommodate increased demand.
Comfort and Capacity for All
“These special services will greatly benefit passengers during Krishna Janmashtami, allowing them to reach their destinations comfortably and on time,” CPRO Upadhyay said. “We have ensured sufficient AC, Sleeper, and General coaches to serve travellers from different categories.”
With thousands expected to travel to major pilgrimage hubs such as Mathura, Vrindavan, Jhansi and Varanasi, Northern Railway’s move aims to ease congestion, reduce waitlist pressures, and provide smoother journeys during one of the busiest festive weekends of the year.
