New Delhi, August 13 (HS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed profound grief over the tragic loss of lives in a road accident in Dausa, Rajasthan, extending heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and wishing the injured a swift recovery.

In a message posted by the Prime Minister’s Office on X (formerly Twitter), PM Modi wrote:

Deeply saddened by the loss of lives in an accident in Dausa, Rajasthan. Condolences to the families who have lost their loved ones. Praying for the speedy recovery of the injured.

As a relief measure, the Prime Minister announced ex-gratia compensation of ₹2 lakh each from the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund (PMNRF) for the next of kin of the deceased, and ₹50,000 each for those injured in the mishap.

The accident has plunged Dausa into mourning, with rescue operations and medical assistance underway to aid the victims.

A devastating road accident in Rajasthan's Dausa district has claimed the lives of 11 people, including seven children and three women, and left several others injured in the early hours of Wednesday. The victims were devotees returning from the Khatu Shyam temple pilgrimage.

The collision occurred near Bapi on the National Highway when a passenger pickup van carrying the pilgrims rammed into a stationary trailer truck parked at the roadside. Initial police reports suggest the driver of the pickup may have dozed off, resulting in the high-speed impact that mangled the front of the vehicle and trapped passengers inside.

Of the 11 fatalities, 10 died on the spot, while one succumbed to injuries during treatment. At least eight critically injured individuals were referred to Sawai Man Singh Hospital in Jaipur for advanced care, while others are receiving treatment at the Dausa District Hospital. The condition of several injured remains critical.
