New Delhi, August 13 (HS): In preparation for heightened security measures on Independence Day, Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) will restrict the movement of all unscheduled aircraft during specified time slots on August 15. The ban will apply to both non-scheduled flights operated by scheduled airlines and private chartered aircraft.

According to official sources, the restrictions will be in force from 6:00 AM to 10:00 AM and again from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Scheduled commercial flights will remain unaffected, ensuring minimal disruption to regular passenger services.

Exemptions have been granted for government aircraft and helicopters carrying governors or chief ministers, as well as for aircraft engaged in urgent missions such as quick-response operations, disaster relief, or emergency medical evacuations.

The Airports Authority of India’s Aeronautical Information Service (AIS) issued a formal Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) informing aviation personnel of the temporary operational changes. Such notices are routinely issued to convey critical, time-sensitive information impacting flight operations.

The move is part of a multi-layered airspace security protocol — including no-fly zones around key locations — implemented each year in the national capital to safeguard Independence Day celebrations.
