Kolkata, 12 August (H.S.): The police have arrested two people in connection with the 'murder' of Bankura's Trinamool leader and booth coordinator Sekander Khan. The arrested people include Ibrahim Sheikh and Khasim Sheikh. The police are trying to gather more information by interrogating them.

Notably, the Trinamool leader was shot dead in Chokai area of Sonamukhi last night i.e. Monday night. Sekander, known as an important Trinamool leader in the area, had also taken responsibility for the elections. Every evening the Trinamool leader used to go to the market to talk to his acquaintances and friends. He went there on Monday too. He was shot while returning home at night. The miscreants who came on a bike fired three bullets. The Trinamool leader was shot in the head and back. He died on the spot.

A large number of police force reached the spot. Searches were conducted at many places. The police have arrested Ibrahim Sheikh and Qasim Sheikh on suspicion of involvement in the murder. It has been revealed that the accused are sons of former booth president of the area, Naseem Sheikh.

As per local sources, a few months ago, there was a dispute between Naseem Sheikh and Sekander Khan regarding the construction of a drain in the area.

According to police sources, after the murder last night, Naseem Sheikh and his family and relatives left the area. Police conducted a search operation and arrested Ibrahim and Qasim. The rest of the people are also being searched. After the incident, panic has spread in the area. The incident spot has been cordoned off. The police have also been deployed in the area. The body has been taken to Bankura Sammilani Medical College Hospital for post-mortem.
