Tamulpur (Assam), 12 August (HS): Two village heads from the India-Bhutan border area of Tamulpur district—Dambar Bahadur Chettri and Yuvraj Chettri, nephew of another village head—left for Delhi on Tuesday to participate in the grand national-level Independence Day celebrations.

The delegation, visiting under the “Vibrant Villages Programme,” will attend the main ceremony on August 15 in Delhi and meet Union Home Minister Amit Shah along with other top leaders and officials of the country. An SSB senior officer is also accompanying them on the trip.

At the send-off ceremony, Tamulpur Deputy Commissioner Pankaj Chakravarty hoisted the national flag in the DC office premises and extended his best wishes, calling the visit a matter of pride for the district. Commandant HK Gupta of the 24th Battalion also wished them success, terming their participation in this historic event a valuable opportunity for local representatives.
